Adam Lambert’s Rockin’ Version of “Blue Suede Shoes” Would Make Elvis Presley Proud

Fresh from blowing us away with his performance of Cher’s “Believe” at the Kennedy Center Honors in December, Adam Lambet is back. This time, the former “American Idol” contestant is taking on Elvis Presley’s “Blue Suede Shoes” for the NBC “Elvis All-Star Tribute.”

The Blake Shelton hosted event featured performances by country acts Kelsea Ballerini, Dierks Bentley, Little Big Town, Pistol Annies, Darius Rucker, Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban. Additionally Alessia Cara, Mac Davis, John Fogerty, Josh Groban, Adam Lambert, John Legend, Jennifer Lopez, Post Malone, Shawn Mendes, and Ed Sheeran took the stage

Adam had arguably one of the best performances of the night when he hit the stage with his own pair of blue suede shoes. Decked out in a blue suit, Adam swiveled and shimmied in pure Elvis fashion. Using the stage as his dance floor, Adam had the crowd on their feet with a rockin’ rendition of the 1956 hit, first recorded by Carl Perkins.

The special aired Sunday night (Feb. 17) in honor of the King of Rock and Roll, who would have turned 84 on January 8. The two-hour show recreated Elvis’ 1968 show, called ’68 Comeback Special, that ignited his career. Additionally, rare footage and interviews with Presley’s wife, Priscilla Presley, the special’s director, Steve Binder, and daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, were featured.
