2018 has been quite a rough year for so many, including for The Real Housewives of New York star Bethenny Frankel. In a tweet written on Monday (Dec. 17,) the reality show star revealed that she had experienced a health emergency over the weekend that could have killed her.

“I have a rare fish allergy,” Frankel wrote. “Sunday, I had soup, itched & was unconscious for 15 mins then to ER & ICU for 2 days w BP of 60/40. I couldn’t talk, see, thought I had a stroke & dying & told if 5 mins later I’d be dead. 911 & EPI saved me. I’ll never not carry an #epipen.”

“She was in ICU for two days and just got out tonight,” a friend of Frankel told People magazine in a new interview. “She almost died. It was that serious. Her blood pressure was through the roof and she was unconscious. She went into anaphylactic shock. Her boyfriend saved her life.”

The scary experience just months after Frankel’s ex-boyfriend Dennis Shields died of a suspected drug overdose at the age of 51.

Of course, in true Frankel fashion, the businesswoman is looking to turning a negative into a positive and plans to use her media power to spread the news regarding the importance of EpiPens.

“I am all over this,” Frankel wrote on her Twitter also on Monday (Dec. 17) when a fan wrote about how expensive the EpiPens are. “I’ve heard about it and this will be a mission of mine.”
