It’s been a little less than a year since tragedy struck U.S. Olympic skier Bode Miller’s family, when their 19-month-old daughter Emeline Grier drowned in a pool. Since then, Bode and his wife Morgan have been open about sharing their story and the grief they experienced following their loss. Now, the family has something good to share.

Four months after the couple lost their daughter, Morgan gave birth to a son Easton Vaughn Rek Miller, and it helped the family cope with their loss.

“It was, how am I supposed to bring a new baby into this world, with just losing my baby?,” Morgan said. “Emmy was so excited to be a big sister. She walked around all the time with her baby. And now we have the opportunity to get to love that baby not only for ourselves but for Emmy.”

Morgan, who has been dedicated to raising awareness of accidental drownings with children, has now taken to Instagram to share her tears of joy as her new son, Easton, learns how to swim.

First the proud mom posted a photo of Easton with the swim instructor writing, “Easton started today.” She then shared a video of the lessons taking place with a special message.

“I cried tears of hope watching my baby boy learn this life saving skill,” Morgan wrote over the video. “And then tears of sadness because it was all I had to do to keep my baby girl here.”

Morgan also took to Instagram to share a photo of her baby boy and introduce her son to the world.

“I haven’t formally introduced our little light, Easton Vaughn Rek Miller. He is so special and has brought so much healing and hope. Our baby Emmy will never be replaced but man, has this little bundle allowed us to feel a small sense of peace and in a weird way, a connection between the heavens and earth #lifeafterdeath.” she wrote.

Our hearts are with Morgan, Bode and the whole Miller family as they continue their journey.
