Just hours before releasing the video for her single “Press,” music powerhouse Cardi B found herself in a New York court room pleading not guilty to attempted assault in the second degree.

The charges stem from a series of suspicions that the rapper ordered an attack at a New York strip club. According to reports, the singer had thought that a female bartender had gotten involved with her husband Offset and therefore, was very angry. Cardi B was arrested as a result of these suspicions back in October.

According to TMZ, Cardi originally turned down a plea deal which would find her guilty of a misdemeanor. The website reports that when faced by the judge, Cardi was told that she’s being charged with attempted assault in the 2nd degree, among other charges to which she pleaded not guilty.

Indeed, drama seems to follow Cardi B wherever she goes.

“I feel like I’ve been in a lot of drama,” she said in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight. “I feel like people have thrown so many different crazy obstacles, a new chapter in my life. Like, I’ve got a whole lot of s**t to talk about,” she says. “There’s a lot of things that… [if] I say it, people eat me up alive from it. They say I complain too much. You know what? I’m just going to put it in my music then.”

She will now head back to court in September for her co-defendants hearing, the very same month her new movie Hustlers will open in theaters. Cardi B will star in the movie alongside Jennifer Lopez.
