Over the Christmas holiday, “Flip or Flop” star Christina El Moussa married her boyfriend of one year, Ant Anstead, seemingly out of the blue.

As it turns out, the couple has been engaged since September. “We had an engagement, we just didn’t tell anyone,” Ant Anstead told People.

Christina, who went through a rough and very public divorce with her “Flip or Flop” co-host Tarek El Moussa, says she and Ant simply wanted to avoid the drama that comes with a wedding.

“It’s different for us now. We didn’t want all the fuss. Just a quiet wedding without all the drama and paparazzi,” she said.

And they managed to do just that by surprising all of their unsuspecting wedding guests who thought they were attending a Christmas boat parade at Christina and Ant’s Newport Beach home.

Instead, the 70 guests witnessed Christina and Ant exchange I Do’s, including Christina’s two kids from her marriage to Tarek, Brayden and Taylor, as well as Ant’s two kids from his previous marriage, Archie and Amelie.

As for the proposal itself, Ant says he kept things simple. “I did the proposal on Newport Beach on the sand with some champagne at sunset,” Anstead said.

Christina says she was completely surprised by the gesture.

“He was like, ‘Let’s just go for a bike ride’ and we were going to grab dinner. We were watching the sunset and then all of the sudden he just got on his knee and proposed,” she said. “So yes, I was surprised.”

Now, they are hitched and happy as they blend their two families together. “I’m incredibly grateful to have met her. She saved me,” Anstead said.
