Ellen DeGeneres has long been known for her pranks, with her talk show guests often eager to get in on the fun in one way or another. The latest guest to participate in one of her hysterical pranks was music extraordinaire Michael Bublé.
But little did anyone know that “Modern Family” star Eric Stonestreet would also make an appearance.
It all happened on the Friday, January 18 episode of The Ellen Show as Bublé was to play a clerk at a California grocery store. While there, he was to say whatever DeGeneres told him to through an earpiece.
But before you knew it, everyone was shocked when Stonestreet found himself in line purely by coincidence, and thus, a piece of the prank!
“I smell something awry in my Handy Market,” Stonestreet said, before calling out Bublé. “I didn’t want to say anything. Oh my God, you’re so amazing. You’re such a talented guy, man.”
Of course, Bublé did stick around to trick some other more unsuspecting shoppers, including one customer who realized that her grocery clerk was, in fact, a four-time Grammy winner!
“I knew you looked familiar but I wasn’t sure,” she said. “I didn’t want to say anything! You are so cute!”
We totally agree, by the way.
