In countless shows and movies, actress Selma Blair has played several different types of roles. But on Saturday (Oct. 20,) she may have been at her most powerful when she made a stunning admission to her fans.
Blair has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
“I am in the thick of it but I hope to give some hope to others, and even to myself,” Blair wrote alongside a picture of her being fitted for a wardrobe for her new Netflix show ‘Another Life,’ admitting that the disease has caused her to not be able to easily get dressed by herself. “You can’t get help unless you ask. It can be overwhelming in the beginning.”
But she battles on.
“I am a forthcoming person and I want my life to be full somehow,” she continued. “I want to play with my son again. I want to walk down the street and ride my horse. I have MS and I am OK.”

The 46-year-old now adds herself to a list of millions who wake up every day to battle the disease, which attacks the central nervous system.
“I am disabled,” she further writes about the diagnosis that she received just two months ago but a condition that she feels she might have unknowingly battled for at least 15 years. “I fall sometimes. I drop things. My memory is foggy. And my left side is asking for directions from a broken GPS. But we are doing it. And I laugh and I don’t know exactly what I will do precisely but I will do my best.”
