Dale Earnhardt Jr. and wife Amy are just entering that sweet spot of new parenthood, where their new daughter Isla is now just beginning to smile and coo and really notice the two people she will call mommy and daddy for the rest of her life.
And it’s these kinds of milestones that has the former NASCAR driver wondering…could it be time to have another one?
“We are already talking about hopefully trying to expand our family,” Earnhardt Jr. said during an interview on The Dan Patrick Show on Wednesday (June 27.) “I am really frustrated with myself that I didn’t do this sooner and that I didn’t get married sooner and didn’t have a baby sooner.”
This regret is quite the epiphany for Earnhardt Jr., who long seemed to enjoy his single days before meeting the love of his life back in 2009.
“(Babies) have a way of maturing you real fast and forcing you to change your lifestyle and the way you think,” said Earnhardt Jr, who will begin his new career as a broadcaster for NBC this weekend. “I know I had a lot of fun in my twenties and thirties but I realize now how great these experiences are. Frankly, I wish I could have started sooner at a younger age.”
