Demi Lovato’s Family Releases Official Statement on Her Condition Following Reports of Overdose

On Tuesday, July 24, reports broke that Demi Lovato had been rushed to the hospital in Los Angeles, California after suffering a drug overdose.

Initially, TMZ reported that the singer had overdosed on heroin but according to a statement to her family, that might not be the case. Through Demi’s representative, the family released the following message about her condition:

“Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers and support,” said Lovato’s representative. “Some of the information being reported is incorrect and [Lovato’s family members] respectfully ask for privacy and not speculation as her health and recovery is the most important thing right now.” More reports state that Demi is now awake and in “stable” condition.

Demi recently released a new song called “Sober” where she revealed she’d broken her 6-year sobriety streak.
