Demi Lovato may have predicted that she’d be singing the national anthem at a Super Bowl someday, but did she know she would knock it out of the park?
That’s just what the “Sorry Not Sorry” singer did as she stepped up to the mic to kick off Super Bowl LIV featuring the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers. Decked out in an elegant white pantsuit, Demi used her soaring vocals to honor the country with it’s anthem. While many artists take liberties with their anthem performances, Demi just let her powerhouse vocals take us to new heights. The song ended in a rousing ovation and cheers from the mixed football crowd.
It was February 2010 when a young Demi took to Instagram to predict her future. “One day, I’m gonna sing the national anthem at a super bowl. Onnnee dayyy….” she said. And that day was February 2, 2020, ten years after putting her dream out into the universe.
“Dreams really do come true y’all. 🙏🏼🙌🏼💗” she wrote next to the screenshot of her original post, after it was revealed she’d be taking on the coveted spot.
After posting her performance on Instagram, Demi was bombarded by praise from fans, friends and celebrities alike.
“UNBELIEVABLE!!!!,” wrote Debra Messing.
“YOU DID THAT MAMA!!!!💯💯💯💯💯💯 PHENOMENAL 💝💝💝💝,” said Yolanda Adams.
“Angelic,” shared Oscar De La Hoya.
“You kill it mama!!!,” added Eva Longoria.
And kill it she did. If anyone doubted that Demi Lovato had the chops, her national anthem performance and her stunning performance of “Anyone” at the Grammy Awards is sure to end all doubt..
