Demi Lovato Enters Rehab Following Drug Overdose: “I Need Time to Heal and Focus on My Recovery”

On Tuesday, July 24, Grammy-nominated recording artist Demi Lovato was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California after an apparent drug overdose.

After about two weeks in the hospital, Demi released a statement to her fans, saying, “I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction. What I’ve learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet.”

According to CNN, Demi has now left the hospital and entered rehab as she commits to focusing on her health.

“I now need time to heal and focus on my sobriety and road to recovery. The love you all have shown me will never be forgotten and I look forward to the day where I can say I came out on the other side,” Demi said of her next steps. “I will keep fighting.”

Demi Lovato has always been open with her fans about her struggle with addiction. Earlier this summer, she released a song called “Sober” where she revealed she’d relapsed after six years of sobriety.
