Derek Hough recovering from emergency appendicitis surgery

Derek Hough is recovering after undergoing emergency surgery for appendicitis on Saturday. The World of Dance judge took to social media to share his medical scare.

“Woke up at 3am with a severe and a sharp pain in my abdomen,” Derek wrote alongside a video of him in the hospital. “Knew something wasn’t right. Turned out it was appendicitis and had surgery to remove my appendix straight away.”

In the video, Derek can be seen in slo-mo trying to perform a dance move following surgery, while under the influence. “This is me immediately after, still a little(a lot) medicated, giving @hayley.erbert a (sexy) little dance.”

He then turns the comment to his girlfriend Hayley saying, “Me: Is this doing it for you babe?
Hayley: So hot.
Thank you for lying to me babe ;).”

Many of Derek’s friends took to the comment section to wish the former Dancing with the Stars pro well.

“Quad-zilla” they call him…..,” wrote Derek’s brother-in-law, Brooks Laich.

“Get well soon bro. And pick me up one of those badass gowns 💪,” added Gavin DeGraw.

Hayley also chimed in to say something to her bae. “I don’t know anyone that would be sexier than you in a hospital gown and blood clot socks,” she wrote.

But fear not, Derek is doing well. The dancer late shared a video on his instagram story, showing him playing the piano while trying to recover from his recent surgery.

“Learning something new while recovering,” her wrote.
