We first got news in 2017 that a Downton Abbey movie was in the works. Now, two years later, the movie trailer is finally here and the Crawley’s return in true fashion.
The words, “At Downton Abbey, they live like royalty. But are they ready for the real thing?” scrawl across the screen as the trailer begins.
The Crawleys— Robert (Hugh Bonneville), Cora (Elizabeth McGovern), Dowager Countess (Maggie Smith), Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery), Lady Edith (Laura Carmichael), Lady Sybil (Jessica Brown Findlay) prepare for the arrival of the King and Queen as everyone is on edge.
“I want every surface to gleam and sparkle, the voiceover says as the staff prepares for arrival.
The much-loved TV series came to an end in 2016 after six successful seasons, and now the movie will let fans know what the Crawley’s have been up to.
The movie will include a number of original cast members from the television show, including Maggie Smith, Michelle Dockery, Hugh Bonneville, Joanne Froggatt, Elizabeth McGovern and Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, Brendan Coyle, Kevin Doyle, Matthew Goode, Harry Hadden-Paton, David Haig, Geraldine James, Robert James-Collier, Simon Jones, Allen Leech, Phyllis Logan, Sophie McShera, Tuppence Middleton, Stephen Campbell Moore, Lesley Nicol, Kate Phillips, Imelda Staunton and Penelope Wilton
“Times change. But some places stay with you forever,” the trailer reads.
Downton Abbey hits theaters on Sept. 12.
