On Wednesday (Jan. 15,) the WWE announced news of Rocky’s death. Besides being the father of one of the world’s favorite actors, he was a star in the wrestling world, having held a number of National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) singles titles across the United States and Canada through a career that spanned the years 1964 to 1991. In 2008, “Soul Man” was even inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

No cause of death has been released, and “The Rock” has yet to speak publicly about his father’s death.
“He was just under the weather, he thought he had the flu or something,” former professional wrestler Brian Blair told ESPN in a phone interview regarding Rocky’s death. “I said, ‘You, need to get checked out, Rocky.’ He said he’d be OK. Then he missed this Sunday, a few days ago. When I talked to him again, he said he still wasn’t feeling good and he still missed church. He still didn’t get checked out. I talked to Sheila and she said he was just being stubborn. He died at home, today.”
Vince McMahon spoke out regarding the loss of Rocky. “I’m deeply saddened by the loss of WWE Hall of Famer Rocky Johnson, an incredible talent who forged an indelible legacy,” Vince wrote. “My thoughts are with @TheRock and his family.”
We send our condolences to all who mourn Rocky’s death.
