Music powerhouses Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber joined forces Friday (May 10,) releasing their new single and accompanying lyric video for the song “I Don’t Care.”

But little did we know that this collaboration had been a long time in the making. If fact, Bieber shared a video on his Instagram page Friday (May 10) of him and Sheeran first meeting on a red carpet years ago when they were just getting their respective careers going.

On Wednesday (May 8), Sheeran came to his fans to share his excitement about the new song.

“Hope everyone enjoys the music coming out tomorrow. I’m super happy and proud of it,” he wrote alongside a pic of him and his wife.  “I’m currently in Cambodia in the jungle, but I’ve got a few bottles of beer for me and Cherry (and @securitykev) to celebrate the release tomorrow. Please play the song loud, dance, sing, smile to it. And tell your mum. Love you all x”

The lyrics of the song give an inside glimpse to some of the real life challenges that Bieber himself has been quite vocal about in recent months.

I’m crippled with anxiety/But I’m told it’s where we’re s’posed to be/You know what?/ It’s kinda crazy ’cause I really don’t mind/And you make it better like that,” Bieber sings.
