Legendary rocker Eddie Van Halen is currently in the battle for his life.

According to various reports, the former Van Halen guitarist recently returned home after a long stay in the hospital due to complications that came up during his ongoing treatment for supposed throat cancer. Initially, he is said to have been hospitalized to treat various intestinal issues that were coming as a result of his cancer treatments.

It’s a sad state of affairs for the music legend, who was initially diagnosed with tongue cancer back in 2000 but then was given the all-clear just two years later.

“I used metal picks — they’re brass and copper — which I always held in my mouth, in the exact place where I got the tongue cancer,” he explained at the time. “Plus, I basically live in a recording studio that’s filled with electromagnetic energy. So that’s one theory. I mean, I was smoking and doing a lot of drugs and a lot of everything. But at the same time, my lungs are totally clear. This is just my own theory, but the doctors say it’s possible.”

And while fellow rock bands such as Def Leppard and Poison have announced massive tours for 2020 in recent days, it looks as if Van Halen’s days are through, especially in light of the 64-year old’s current health battles.
