As 1,500 people gathered inside Houston’s St. Martin’s Episcopal Church to celebrate the life of former First Lady Barbara Bush, there were more laughs than tears.

After the Bush granddaughters read Proverbs 31 and two family friends paid tribute to Bar, President George H.W. Bush‘s second oldest son, Jeb Bush, got up on behalf of the Bush family and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

Jeb shared that he could feel his mother’s presence with him, “Jeb, keep it short. Don’t drag this out,” and choked up once when revealing that his mother was “beautiful until the very end.” He even got more than one jab in at older brother, President George W. Bush.

Barbara was buried in College Station at the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library.
