Jenna Bush Hager Speaks Out About Dad George W Bush and Ellen DeGeneres’ Controversial Meeting

Four months after controversy broke out over George W. Bush and Ellen DeGeneres sitting together at a football game, NBC’s Today show host Jenna Bush Hager, and daughter of George Bush, is speaking out about the event.

It was October 2019 and the setting was a football game at Dallas Cowboy’s stadium in Texas. Stay with me here… Ellen DeGeneres got a lot of backlash thrown at her after a video image of her and President George W. Bush sitting next to each other at the Dallas Cowboys game, having a good time, hit the airwaves. The two were actually enjoying each other’s company and the internet was not having it.

During an appearance on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, a caller asked Jenna about her thoughts on the subject.

“I had just had a baby, so to be totally honest, I didn’t pay that much attention to it,” she said “But I do think that people can have different beliefs and still be friends.” (Jenna had given birth to her third child Henry “Hal” Hager just before the meeting went down)

She added, “And I also think decency and humanity should be at the basis of all conversation.”  We couldn’t agree more.

When the controversy occurred, Ellen took a moment on her show to address the backlash.

“Here’s the thing, I’m friends with George Bush and in fact I’m friends with a lot of people who don’t share the same beliefs that I have. We’re all different and I think that we’ve forgotten that that’s okay that we’re all different. For instance I wish people wouldn’t wear fur. I don’t like it, but I’m friends with people who wear fur. I’m friends with people who are furry as a matter of fact. I have friends who should tweeze more.”

“Just because I don’t agree with someone on everything doesn’t mean that I’m not going to be friends with them,” Ellen explained.

And there you go.
