Talk about soul. Jennifer Hudson held nothing back when she sang “Amazing Grace” during Aretha Franklin’s funeral at Greater Grace Temple in Detroit, Michigan on Friday (Aug. 31).

Following performances by Faith Hill and Ariana Grande, who brought their own soul, Jennifer Hudson took the stage to honor the Queen of Soul.

“The Voice” coach hit all the right notes leading the congregation to rise to their feet and wave their hands in the air. Decked out in a black blazer and fascinator hat, Jennifer brought some folks in attendance to tears with her exhilarating performance.

Jennnifer’s connection to Aretha goes further than her performance. It was announced that the 36-year-old would be playing Aretha in the biopic Aretha: From These Roots. On the day of her passing, Jennifer took to Instagram to express her gratitude for the singer.

“I have no words, so I will let the Queen say it ! But I will Say while teaching me about your life , u taught me so much about life and schooled me in mine. I will never forget those teachings #riparethafranklin.
