John Mayer will be recognized with the Legend of Live Award during the upcoming 2018 Billboard Live Music Awards (formerly the Billboard Touring Conference and Awards) on Nov. 13.
The “Neon Light” singer will receive the evening’s highest honor due to his extensive touring career and contributions to the music industry as a solo artist and as a member of Dead & Company, as well as his collaboration with Dave Chappelle on the Controlled Danger Tour.
The evening will also honor Shawn Mendes, who will receive the inaugural Artist of the Year Award. The singer will be recognized for his successful tours, including his Illuminate World Tour.
The 2018 Billboard Live Music Summit will take place on Nov. 13 – 14 at the Montage in Beverly Hills, Ca. The two-day event will bring together industry insiders and artists for a deep dive into the challenges and opportunities presented in the music industry.
Keynote panels and interviews will include recent winner of “American Idol,” Maddie Poppe, singer-songwriter Andrew McMahon, and Ken Casey, founder, bassist and vocalist of Dropkick Murphys.
In addition to John’s lengthy pop catalog, the singer has collaborated with several country acts in the past. John has previously appeared on an episode of “CMT Crossroads” with Keith Urban as well as shared the stage with Brad Paisley at the 2013 ACM Awards. Last year his song “In the Blood” even saw some love from country radio. Meanwhile, he penned much of his early material with Zac Brown Band’s Clay Cook.
