Actress Julia Roberts was recently overseas promoting her movie Ben Is Back when she was asked a question about what everyone was talking about – what does she think about the current college bribery scandal? Granted, answering this question left the Pretty Woman star certainly on a slippery slope, as it involves fellow actresses such as Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman.
But in true Roberts fashion, she handled the answer beautifully.
“That to me is so sad,” said Roberts, specifically speaking about those parents who actually paid money to get their kids admitted into prestigious schools. “Because I feel, from an outsider, that it says a little bit, ‘I don’t have enough faith in you’” to get into school yourself.”
She then, being the professional she is, found a way to compare the sad situation to the movie she was promoting.
“I feel that in [Ben Is Back], this mother is trying to say, ‘I have so much faith in you,” she says. “I have both our faiths until you can find the faith in yourself again.’”
What made the situation even a tad more uncomfortable was the fact that Roberts’ Ben is Back co-star Nicolette Sheridan was also on hand at the interview. Fans will recall that Sheridan appeared on Desperate Housewives with Huffman back in the day.
Since news of the scandal, Loughlin lost her ongoing partnership with the Hallmark Channel. According to the AP, the parent company of the Hallmark Channel says it was “saddened” by the recent allegations and has stopped development of all productions involving her. Lori has been a beloved part of a slew of Hallmark Channel movies, including Homegrown Christmas and Garage Sale Mysteries.
Her daughter, Olivia Jade, also lost her partnership with Sephora.
