Kelly Clarkson is once again taking the reigns as host of the 2019 Billboard Music Awards. The 36-year-old is returning for a second year following a successful turn last year.

Kelly took to Instagram to share the big news with a video and the promise of turning it up a notch this year.

“I had so much fun hosting the @BBMAs last year, I’m doing it again! This year, we’re going to turn it up a notch. Join me LIVE Wednesday, May 1st on NBC! #BBMAs,” Kelly captioned the video.

If you recall, the 2018 Billboard Awards found it’s host, Kelly, sharing her talents with a medley of hit songs. In her opening monologue the Texas native broke into several hits songs, including Maren Morris’ “My Church” and Sam Smith’s “Too Good at Goodbyes.” She then turned up the heat by taking on Kendrick Lamar’s “Humble,” Kahlid’s “Young Dumb and Broke,” Bruno Mars’ “Finesse,” Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” and Shawn Mendes’ “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” before breaking into Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do.”

We can only hope for something as spectacular as that opening.

Unfortunately, Kelly had to address a serious issue to kick off the show. She opened the show, giving a powerful and tearful speech paying tribute to her home state of Texas and those who lost their lives in the Santa Fe high school shooting.

The 2019 Billboard Music Awards will air live on Wednesday, May 1st at 8 p.m. on NBC.
