It’s been quite a year for former Fuller House actress Lori Loughlin. Not only has she found her name dragged through the mud as part of the ongoing college admissions scandal, but her career seems to have slammed to a halt.
So, don’t think for a minute that she isn’t hurt by all of this.
“Lori is remorseful, and she has definite regrets,” a legal source tells PEOPLE in a recent interview. “She’s embarrassed and hurt, and she knows that her reputation has been ruined for life.”
However, in the same interview, the source also mentions the fact that Loughlin still claims that she had no idea she was doing something so very wrong.
“She also believes the allegations against her aren’t true,” the source says. “She honestly didn’t think what she was doing was any different than donating money for a library or athletic field. That’s the crux of why she pleaded not guilty.”
Fans will recall that Loughlin, her husband Mossimo Giannulli and over 50 other people were indicted back in March as part of the nationwide scam. Loughlin and her husband are now expected back in court on August 27.
“Lori is ready for this to be over,” says the source. “They all are. At this point, it would be better to spend a few months in jail — because she’s been spending the last several months in her own prison.”
Lori’s daughters, Olivia Jade and Isabella, recently broke their social media silence by showing their support for their mom on her birthday. Each took to Instagram to share a photo with Lori, wishing her a happy birthday.
“happy birthday mama. I love you ❤️,” Bella wrote alongside a beautiful black and white photo of her and her mom.
Up until those posts in July, the girls have not posted anything on social media since the scandal broke. Both were inundated with nasty comments and remarks about their mother’s wrongdoing. Lori has deleted all her social media accounts completely.
