Marie Osmond Asks for Prayers for Brother After Quadruple Bypass Surgery: “The Lord’s Plan Will Always Be Done”

On Sunday (July 9,) Marie Osmond headed to her various social media channels to ask for prayers for her brother Tom as he recovers from quadruple bypass heart surgery. And just by the tone of her words, the situation seems serious.

According to Marie, her brother Tom is deaf, and he has always been an inspiration to her. “My deaf brothers are truly my heroes. Can you imagine being born into a family of singers? I was always amazed by their strength,” she said.

She went on to say that Tom, who has never let his physical challenges keep him from doing things, is now in the fight for his life.

“My sweet Brother Tom, who is the second eldest in our family, is currently facing the fight of his life,” Osmond wrote alongside a picture of her and her beloved brother. “This weekend, love and prayers go out to Tom, his wife Carolyn, their children and grandchildren, as he struggles on life-support from his quadruple bypass surgery. I am saddened though about my dear brother’s condition because his doctor is not sure how he will do in his recovery.”

Indeed, from the moment they burst onto the music scene back in the seventies, The Osmonds have been loved by fans not just across the country, but around the world. This love has also always extended to the entire Osmond family, as Tom was born with a severe hearing impairment.

But as with every challenge this family has faced through the years, Osmond says that she will rely on her faith to see her through this tough time. “I’ve come to the conclusion that as we go through trials like illnesses and life’s struggles, they give us the opportunity to grow, if we do choose to look upward for help. These struggles can help us turn to our God for peace and comfort and even inspire us so that we may strive to stay humble, be teachable and have the desire to help and serve others in need,” she said.

“I especially feel this as we reach the fall and winter seasons of our lives. We realize we are not so invincible. My sweet brother Tom’s heart might be physically hurting right now, but he is not broken!”
