The Tree is the Latest Celebrity to Be Unmasked on ‘The Masked Singer’

It was a talent filled night on The Masked Singer, as the remaining 6 contestants— Tree, Fox, Thingamajig, Flamingo, Rottweiler and Leopard—went up against each other in the series semi-finals Wednesday night (Dec. 11).

The Fox kicked the night off by singing “Blame It” by Jamie Foxx featuring T. Pain, followed by the Leopard who took on FUN’s “We Are Young.” Next up was Thingamajig singing “Ordinary People” by John Legend and the Flamingo with an rousing rendition of Fleetwood Mac’s “Go Your Own Way.” The Tree took the stage for her performance of Lady Gaga’s “The Edge of Glory,” but it was the Rottweiler’s performance of Lewis Capaldi’s “Someone You Loved,” that brought the audience and some panelists to tears.

Following the amazing performances, it was time for the audience and panelists to vote for who they wanted to continue on. The masked singer with the least amount of votes was going home. As the six finalists stood on the stage, Nick Cannon revealed that it would be the Tree that got the least amount of votes and therefore would be leaving the show.

The panelists took their best guesses at who they thought was under the tree costume. Robin Thicke, who thought it was Rachel Ray all along, switched his guess at the last minute to Amy Sedaris. Nicole Scherzinger agreed with the singer and chose Amy as well. Jenny McCarthy stuck with the SNL cast member guess with Ana Gasteyer, while Ken Jeong put his guess behind Cheers actress Bebe Neuwirth. And in an effort to make Nick Cannon squirm, T Pain guessed it was Mariah Carey, Nick’s ex-wife, under the tree.

In the end, Jenny McCarthy guessed right. The Tree was revealed to be SNL alum, Ana Gasteyer!

Ken Jeong missed the mark despite the fact that he was in A Christmas Story with Ana and still couldn’t tell she was behind the mask. “I forgot I was in it,” Ken revealed after the unmasking.
