As the world watched Meghan Markle walk down the aisle to marry Prince Harry on May 19, her father Thomas was at home – in tears.

“It was a very emotional moment for me, like I said, I cried about it,” admitted Thomas during an interview on Monday (June 18) on the Good Morning Britain talk show. “I wanted to walk my daughter down the aisle. I wanted that moment. But I’m thankful for everything the way it went. I was very proud. I was very upset that it wasn’t me but the whole world was watching my daughter. I was very happy about that.”

As one might remember, Thomas Markle wasn’t able to attend his daughter’s wedding due to some health issues after suffering a heart attack.

During the same interview, Thomas Markle also weighed in as to if he thinks the two might be having children soon.  “And when she met Harry she spoke about how much she loved him and so there has to be a child making somewhere soon,” he recalled in the interview. “I don’t think there is a stork in the air yet but I think it will happen sooner or later.”

And while everyone has marveled at Meghan’s chance to marry a prince, Thomas Markle reminded everyone that she has been his princess for a long, long time.

“This is my daughter and she’s certainly a prize for him as well,” said Thomas. “He’s great, an interesting guy, a prince, but my daughter’s been a princess since the day she was born.”
