Miley Cyrus is the latest celebrity putting a concert on hold in light of the coronavirus spreading from country to country.

The “Wrecking Ball” singer shared the news Monday night (March 9)  in her Instagram story.

“Due to the recommendations of local, state, federal and international government authorities, including the Center of Disease Control, to reduce potential health risks in response to the current global health crisis, we are no longer traveling to Australia for the show.”

She went on to share how upset she was because of the cancellation

“I am so disappointed to not be there, but I have to do what is right to protect the health and safety of my band and crew. I will still be making a donation to help the victims of the Australian bush fire. I’m sorry to miss everyone in Australia, but I will be back soon.”

The 27-year-old was scheduled to perform a benefit concert in Melbourne, Australia on March 13. In her excitement for the event, Miley shared teaser videos from rehearsal on her Instagram page.

“March 13th in Melbourne at the @worldtour Bushfire Relief Concert! I’m bringing @lilnasx w me! You’ll never guess what we have up our sequined sleeves!!!!! Get your tickets now, Party while saving animals and restoring Australia’s wildlife! 🖤,” she wrote four days prior to the cancellation, alongside a rehearsal video.

Fans who have purchased tickets will be refunded per a Tweet shared by TEG DAINTY.

“We are very sad that @MileyCyrus has announced that she will not be travelling to Melbourne and as a result the World Tour Bushfire Relief concert at Lakeside Stadium on Friday 13th March can no longer go ahead. Fans will receive a full refund and contacted by Ticketek shortly.”

They did add that the Saturday night performance will still be going on.

“World Tour’s Saturday night show with @robbiewilliams will still be going ahead, and we look forward to bringing Melbourne a fantastic night of entertainment. Robbie is already on his way to Australia.”
