Sometimes, the truth hurts. So sometimes, its easier to say what you need to say through a song. Just ask Miley Cyrus.

At the stroke of midnight, Cyrus released her new song “Slide Away” on Friday (August 16.) The song is quite literally filled with lyrics that seem to shadow her recent breakup with husband Liam Hemsworth. From ‘once upon a time it was paradise’ to ‘so it’s time to let go,” the song is quite obviously about the end of a relationship.

But yes, some of the lyrics seem to hit pretty close to home, especially lines such as ‘won’t you slide away back to the ocean (and) I’ll go back to the city lights.’ In case you didn’t know, Hemsworth is a big surfer. And Cyrus, well, she has spent much of her career between the hills of Tennessee and the bright lights of California.

Heck, even the pic shared on her Instagram page previewing the track is cause for some concern, as they seem to show bottles of alcohol and drugs floating in the water.

Whether the song is about Cyrus’ real life or not, it’s obviously a rough time for both parties. Hemsworth took to Instagram shortly after news of the split, saying, “This is a private matter and I have not made, nor will I be making, any comments to any journalists or media outlets. Any reported quotes attributed to me are false. Peace and Love.”
