Much has been said in anticipation of the new movie Cats, the movie adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Broadway classic. But it’s safe to say that no one was expecting the reaction the trailer for the upcoming movie got on Thursday (July 18.)
Shortly after the slightly spooky trailer for the new movie came out, Twitter exploded with feedback, most of which was not so great.
“I’m afraid to go to sleep because I’m going to have nightmares about the CATS trailer,” one Twitter user commented.

Indeed, the trailer, which features human/cat-like creatures slithering around, is a tad unnerving. But heck, the movie is packed with the big-time talent of stars such as Jennifer Hudson, Taylor Swift, Rebel Wilson and James Corden.
How bad could it be?
“We had two days where it was myself, Rebel Wilson, Idris Elba, Taylor Swift, Dame Judi Dench and Sir Ian McKellen filming in the same scene and we’re all pretending to be cats. There is a very definite moment where you don’t know if you’re high or not,” Corden recalled in an interview earlier this year with Variety magazine. “I’m like, ‘I ate some gummies at lunch. Were they actual gummies or is that just marijuana? Because this is right up there with the strangest experiences you could ever have.”
Cats debuts in theatres on December 20.
