At 82 years old, Star Wars legend Billy Dee Williams is ready to speak his truth. And the truth is that he might be gender fluid.

“I also see myself as feminine as well as masculine,” Williams says in a recent interview with Esquire magazine. “I’m a very soft person. I’m not afraid to show that side of myself.”

Best known for playing the role of Lando Calrissian in the Star Wars saga of movies, Williams went on to say that he has never wanted to hide anything about himself, including his sexuality.

“I never tried to be anything except myself,” he says in the interview. “I think of myself as a relatively colorful character who doesn’t take himself or herself too seriously.”

Going public with his feelings surrounding sexuality seems to be something that is weighing on Williams heart as he gets older.

“This is a very difficult time for me, as far as age is concerned,” he admits. “When you get to be a certain age, whether you want to think about mortality or not, you think about it.”

But no matter how old he is, he isn’t giving up on the idea that this is the end of his Star Wars character.

“It’s a conclusion—certainly it depends on how much money is generated,” he says. “That’s when they determine where’s the conclusion. The one thing about show business, you can resurrect anything.”
