As the world continues to stir around us, many of us always seem to have the teachings of Mr. Fred Rogers of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood tucked somewhere in our heart. And in the upcoming movie A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, Tom Hanks will bring those sweet teachings of Mr. Rogers back to life once again.
Fans will recall that the world lost Mister Rogers back in 2003.
In a new photo from the upcoming movie, Hanks looks like a downright clone of the television personality. Wearing his iconic red cardigan, beige slacks and gray hairstyle, Hanks certainly nails the look and feel of Mister Rogers. He also displays a kindness in his eyes, a kindness that will undoubtedly jump off the screen and into the hearts of all those watching the movie.
“It’s a story for our times, a story about kindness and family connection and trying to tap into our better self,” director Marielle Heller told Entertainment Weekly in an interview about the movie last year. “God knows we need that right now. In the research for the movie, the writers found that more people than they could possibly count credited Mister Rogers with changing their lives.”
Fred Rogers passed away in 2003 of stomach cancer. His iconic show, “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood,” aired for 31 seasons, sadly ending in 2001.
A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood arrives in theaters Nov. 22 of this year.
