Backstreet Boys’ Nick Carter is mourning the death of his second child, revealing to fans in a tweet on Monday (Sept. 10) that his wife Lauren Kitt had suffered a miscarriage.

“God give us peace during this time,” he wrote, adding that the baby was, in fact, a little girl. “I really was looking forward to meeting her after 3 months. I’m heartbroken.”

In another tweet, Carter told fans that he doubted he would be able to go on to perform Monday night, as he is currently out on a solo tour in South America and Mexico. “I don’t think I can perform tonight,” Carter wrote. “I’m sorry Lima.”

However, shortly after, Carter spoke out about his determination to go on. “This will be hard, but for the love of my fans here in Lima I’ll be on the stage tonight,” said Carter, who married his wife back in April 2014.

This is not the first time that the couple has gone through their share of struggles to have a child, as they also lost one other child to miscarriage when Kitt was 16 weeks along in a previous pregnancy.

We send our heartfelt condolences to Carter and his family during this difficult time.
