Nicki Minaj is Setting the Record Straight About Her Supposed Retirement

Rapper Nicki Minaj caused social media chaos on Thursday (September 5) when she announced that she was going to retire from music in order to spend more time with her family.

“I’ve decided to retire & have my family,” the tweet from Minaj read, according to People. “I know you guys are happy now. To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me … Love you for LIFE.”

But soon after sending that tweet, she deleted it.

And now, she is trying to set the record straight.

“I’m still right here,” she wrote to a Twitter follower who was begging for more information about this supposed retirement. “Still madly in love with you guys & you know that. In hindsight, this should’ve been a Queen Radio discussion & it will be. I promise u guys will be happy. No guests, just us talking about everything. The tweet was abrupt & insensitive, I apologize babe.”

Nicki Minaj…abrupt and insensitive?

Say it isn’t so.

But yes, this is just the most recent example of how a fairly casual comment can up end your entire career if you are not careful. And if you ask us, her career is far from over.

“There’s definitely a new album, yes, of course,” Minaj told late night talk show host Jimmy Fallon back in June. “You’re the first to find out. Of course there’s an album, I’m not putting out the date yet but there is one.”
