Prince Harry stepped up to a podium Sunday (Jan. 19) and opened his big heart to a small audience.

“The decision that I have made for my wife and I to step back is not one I made lightly,” he said in a speech at a charity he founded and reported on by The Washington Post. “It was so many months of talks after so many years of challenges. And I know I haven’t always got it right, but as far as this goes, there really was no other option.”

And once again, the world was reminded what an amazing man he has turned out to be.

“I want you to hear the truth from me, as much as I can share — not as a prince, or a duke, but as Harry, the same person that many of you have watched grow up over the last 35 years — but with a clearer perspective.”

One will recall that the 35-year-old Duke of Sussex and his bride Meghan Markle recently announced that they were stepping away from their royal duties and will now split their time between Canada and Britain.

“Our hope was to continue serving the Queen, the Commonwealth and my military associations, but without public funding,” he said. “Unfortunately, that wasn’t possible.”

He concluded the speech with yet another piece of honesty.

“We are taking a leap of faith,” he admitted. “Thank you for giving me the courage to take this next step.”

Prior to Harry speaking out, his grandmother The Queen made her statement regarding the ongoing situation. ”

“Following many months of conversations and more recent discussions, I am pleased that together we have found a constructive and supportive way forward for my grandson and his family. Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved members of my family,” the statement read. “I recognise the challenges they have experienced as a result of intense scrutiny over the last two years and support their wish for a more independent life. I want to thank them for all their dedicated work across this country, they Commonwealth and beyond, and am particularly proud of how Meghan has so quickly become one of the family. It is my whole family’s hope that today’s agreement allows them to start building a happy and peaceful new life. ”

His mom, the late Princess Diana, would be so proud of him.
