Rami Malek Goes Up Against Daniel Craig in New Bond 25 Movie

The cast of the new Bond 25 film was revealed Thursday morning (April 25) and Rami Malek, star of Bohemian Rhapsody, was announced as part of the cast.

In a live stream event at author Ian Fleming’s Jamaican villa, GoldenEye, additional cast members were revealed. Joining James Bond himself, Daniel Craig, for his final Bond film will be Billy Magnussen, Ana De Armas, David Dencik, Lashana Lynch and Dali Benssalah.

Also returning to their roles, which was previously announced,  will be Ralph Fiennes as M, Rory Kinnear as Tanner, Ben Whishaw as Q , Naomie Harris as Eve Moneypenny, Léa Seydoux as Dr. Madeleine Swann and Jeffrey Wright as CIA operative Felix Leiter.

A press release for the new installment describes the premise as, “Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend, Felix Leiter, from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.”

In a post on Twitter, Rami, who was unable to join the cast for the live announcement, shared his excitement for the role.

“I’m very much looking forward to joining the whole cast and crew very soon and I promise you all that I will be making sure that Mr. Bond does not have an easy ride of in in this—his 25th outing.”

In an interview on Today, the actor praised his co-star Daniel on his legacy as James Bond.

“Daniel has done such a an astounding job just by making him, in a way, relatable. He brings this class to it, but this human factor and he’s kind of cynical at the same time and ruthless, but you’re always rooting for him. It will be very interesting to go up against him,” the Oscar winner said. “I’m going to give him a run for his money.”

In addition, the new installment will be filmed in Jamaica, Norway, London and Italy. No official name for the film has been revealed as of yet.
