Shannen Doherty just made a lot of Beverly Hills 90210 fans very happy with a simple post on social media.
The actress, who played Brenda Walsh for four seasons of the teen soap, took to social media to let fans know about her return. “Yes it’s official. The real question is…. will we still be rocking those outfits. #bh90210,” she wrote alongside a throwback photo of the young cast.
Shannen will be joining cast mates Jason Priestley (Brandon), Jennie Garth (Kelly), Ian Ziering (Steve), Gabrielle Carteris (Andrea), Brian Austin Green (David) and Tori Spelling (Donna), who are all set to star in a six-episode limited series. When the reboot was announced, both Shannen and Luke Perry (Dylan McKay) were the only two cast members who had not signed on for the reboot. Sadly, Luke Perry (Dylan McKay), who had not ruled out a return, passed away in March after suffering a massive stroke. Luke was starring on the CW hit show Riverdale at the time of his death.
Fox revealed that the new series will have the cast portraying “heightened versions of themselves in a brand-new serialized drama—with a healthy dose of irreverence—that is inspired by their real lives and relationships.”
“Having gone their separate ways since the original series ended 19 years ago, Jason, Jennie, Ian, Gabrielle, Brian and Tori reunite when one of them suggests it’s time to get a Beverly Hills, 90210 reboot up and running,” the official show synopsis states. “But getting it going may make for an even more delicious soap than the reboot itself. What will happen when first loves, old romances, friends and frenemies come back together, as this iconic cast — whom the whole world watched grow up together — attempts to continue from where they left off?”
Welcome home Shannen.
