Tevin Biles-Thomas, the brother of Olympic gymnast Simone Biles, has been arrested for murdering three people at a party New Year’s Eve.
According to a statement from prosecutors, obtained by NBC, Tevin is being charged with six counts of murder, three counts of voluntary manslaughter, five counts of felonious assault and one count of perjury.
The Cleveland Division of Police statement revealed that a group of uninvited men entered a party in Cleveland, Ohio and a fight broke out. Three men, Delvante Johnson, 19, Toshaun Banks, 21, and Devaughn Gibson, 23, were killed as a result of their gunshot wounds.
Tevin was identified as one of the shooters by police and he was arrested on Thursday (Aug. 29). According to NBC, Tevin was on active duty in the Army.
“The relentless persistence of Cleveland Police Homicide detectives helped secure an indictment in this case,” Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael C. O’Malley said in a statement. “It is through their hard work that we can begin to seek justice for these victims.”
A hearing is set for Sept. 13 in Cleveland.
