Maybe we’re biased, but it seems like nobody loves their fans the way country stars do. And while Taylor Swift’s music is now marketed towards a more pop-flavored audience, she has retained many of the fans she made in country music for that very reason—she genuinely and openly appreciates her fans.

It isn’t an act, and it isn’t just at backstage meet-and-greets. Attending the iHeartRadio Music Awards, Taylor, dressed in an iridescent paillette sequined Rosa Bloom romper and Sophia Webster Chiara butterfly sandals, signed autographs before heading inside from the red carpet.

Once inside, she stepped from her seat during breaks to grab as many selfies with fans as they could squeeze in between performances and presentations.

And even from her seat, she made sure to entertain one special fan—the toddler son of singer- songwriter Alicia Keyes.

But it was when Taylor hit the stage to accept the trophy for Tour of the Year that she made her appreciation for her fans perfectly clear. She told the audience that when she announced her plans for the Reputation Stadium Tour it was met with skepticism, disdain, and doubt.

Taylor said that many predicted that the tour would be a flop. But she also said, “One of the things that I’ve learned is that life is really unpredictable and people can make forecasts and they can make predictions, but those predictions and forecasts may not come true if there is an unforeseeable factor involved. And that unforeseeable factor, in this case, was my fans.” Taylor added, “I honestly owe everything, everything in my life to you.”

The singer, songwriter, and actress subtly reminded naysayers that the tour is the highest- selling tour in U.S. history.

Taylor closed her acceptance speech implying that new music is in the works and that as soon as it was ready, her fans will be the first to hear it.
