As we emotionally prepare for some emotional time bomb to explode on “This Is Us” during Kate and Toby’s wedding because of a dog or a brother with a drug problem, we might need to be preparing for something even worse– Jack Pearson alive and well at the nuptials.
If you’re behind– catch up! We’re now two full episodes in after Jack’s death and he’s really dead. Luckily, we actually haven’t really seen much of Miguel during those episodes, but we know he’s just lurking around in Jack’s big, long shadow somewhere. The most recent episode of “This Is Us” featured Kate and Toby’s bachelor/ette parties, which the Pearsons ruined, of course, but it looks like the wedding is going to be even more emotional.
Kate/Chrissy Metz told Entertainment Weekly, that fans can expect, “There is a bit of a twist, in true ‘This Is Us’ fashion because the writers are genius. Tonally speaking: upbeat and joyous, through a very important catharsis.”
And obviously, she’s talking about her dad being alive?! In photos leaked from the set, we can see Jack very clearly alive with old Rebecca. And he has salt and pepper hair now too.
What in the wide world of television is going on here?

Series creator Dan Fogelman shared a few thoughts with Entertainment Weekly on the last few episodes of the season, “We wanted to live in a regular episode of the series and show you, ‘Here’s how the show could exist as it did before and be really fulfilling — hopefully also have some lightness and some fun.’ We feel like fans almost deserve a break, because it’s been really heavy.”
Okay, Dan, clear as mud– you’re giving us Jack back, but we’d rather just see him unplug the damn Crockpot, okay?
(Also: thanks to whatever extra on set took these photos and probably ruined their career.)
