It’s an odd time for the world in general right now, but things got even more kooky on Tuesday (March 17) when Tom Brady announced his departure from the New England Patriots.

“Although my football journey will take place elsewhere, I appreciate everything that we have achieved and am grateful for our incredible TEAM accomplishments,” Brady wrote in a two-part post on his Instagram account.

As fans know, Brady has spent 20 years with the New England Patriots, bringing home six Super Bowl championships and 41 playoff appearances since 2001.

“Everything we have accomplished brings me great joy and the lessons I have learned will carry on with me forever,” Brady wrote. “I couldn’t be the man I am today without the relationships you have allowed me to build with you.”

And while Brady refrained from revealing what team he will be going to next, he will be on the league’s open market starting on Wednesday (March 18.) However, ESPN say that the MVP is signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

No matter what happens in his future, Brady seems touched personally about the life he has led thus far.

“It has truly been the happiest two decades I could have envisioned for my life,” Brady concluded. “I have nothing but love for my time in New England.”
