The Bachelorette’s Jed Wyatt Tells His Side of the Story Following Breakup With Hannah Brown

It’s been 2 days since we learned that The Bachelorette‘s Hannah Brown would not be finding love on the reality dating series. In a turn of events, the 24-year-old broke up with winner Jed Wyatt, shortly after the two became engaged on the show.

In the middle of The Bachelorette season, news broke that Jed Wyatt had been dating another girl right up until the time that he left to be on the series. The two vacationed together and professed their love for one another. However, Jed ended up falling in love with Hannah and became the last man standing, even proposing to the Alabama native in end.

However, when Hannah found out the news that Jed lied and continue to lie to her about his relationship, she called it quits. Now, Jed is telling his side of the story. In an interview on Good Morning America, Michael Strahan sat down with Jed to find out why he just didn’t come clean.

“I was really overwhelmed with how much I actually did fall in love with her and I was fearful to lose her. I was acting more out of fear than my actual love for her. That’s my mistake, but that’s kind of what happened.”

Jed revealed that he and Hannah knew the article about his ex-girlfriend was coming out and they had discussed it beforehand. However, his fear allowed him to hold out on the details that mattered. Jed did apologize to Hannah on television during After the Final Rose, something that was not easy.

“It was one of those things that I knew how sorry I was. I knew how much I loved her and how her happiness was in my best interest, “Jed added. “It would have been easy to turn away and not even show up to ‘After the Final Rose.’ I just wanted to  be there for her so that she could have her closure, and so that not only in her eyes, but in the eyes of everyone else, let everyone know that I am sorry, especially her.”

And as Jed tries to move on from it all, the Tennessee native still hurts.

“I do have closure now knowing that she has moved on,” Jed revealed. “But it still hurts because I still love her and I do want the best for her. But ultimately I have to just move on.”

In addition, Jed hopes for a brighter future for Hannah as they both work through their pain and move on. “I’m sure we’ll reconnect in some way. We’re on decent terms with each other and we’ll still be friends, I hope. That’s all I can ask for.”

But what did Jed think about his ex asking runner up Tyler Cameron out on a date during the finale?

“I had a feeling something was up and I couldn’t really put a finger on it when I was there that day, Jed said. “I know there was a lot of nerves and a lot of tension but her happiness is my best interest. I want her to be happy. Tyler’s one of my friends, he’s a great guy. If that’s what it’s supposed to be then I support that.”

With all that has happened on the Bachelorette, would Jed change anything

“Absolutely”, Jed said. “All my actions towards Hannah and all my emotions were authentic and as real as it could possibly be. I would not change that. I do wish that I had been more detailed and more open to her earlier on. It absolutely will effect how I am as a person. This whole show really opened my eyes to a lot of things and changed me in a lot of ways. With my new found perspective I hope to move forward and be a better man.”

Good luck, Jed.
