According to various reports, Gwozdz passed away Wednesday (Jan. 22) of a suspected heroin overdose. In fact, there is now a criminal investigation surrounding his untimely death. He was only 29 years old.

The overdose occurred on Jan. 13, with a 911 transcript alluding to the fact that Gwozdz had locked himself in a bathroom amid a possible overdose of heroin. He was with a female acquaintance at the time, who subsequently called 911 for help.

“Is he breathing?” the dispatcher asked.

“I can’t tell. I can’t tell. I’m so scared,” she said.

Soon after, paramedics arrived to transport the Florida native to the hospital, where he remained until his death.

“We are heartbroken to hear the tragic news of Tyler’s passing today,” a statement from the producers of The Bachelor said in a statement. “Our thoughts are with the Gwozdz family and his friends.”
