It’s been a rough few weeks for CNN anchor Chris Cuomo, but better days now lie ahead.
On Monday (April 20,) Cuomo shared video of him emerging from the confines of his basement, a place he has been quarantined in since his coronavirus diagnosis.
“All right, here it is, the official re-entry from the basement,” said Cuomo, who announced on March 31 that he had tested positive for COVID-19 and had ever since been battling the disease in his basement. “This is what I’ve been dreaming of, literally, for weeks.”
Waiting for the 49-year-old news anchor upstairs was not only his children 17-year-old Bella, 14-year-old Mario and 11-year-old Carolina, but also his wife Cristina Cuomo, who too has been battling coronavirus but has also been cleared by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
“She doesn’t have a fever, she doesn’t have the symptoms anymore, she’s seven days from quarantine,” Cuomo said in the video, which showcased the lush surroundings of his home. “This is the dream, just to be back up here doing normal things. So anyway, I’m back, let’s get after it.”
Over 44,000 people in the United States alone have died of coronavirus since its onset began to be tracked.
