Comedian Drew Carey is mourning the loss of his ex-fiancée Amie Harwick.

Harwick, who is best known as a Hollywood-based sex and family therapist and the author of The New Sex Bible for Women., tragically passed away over the weekend after falling from the balcony of her Hollywood Hills home. She was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

She was just 38 years old.

According to People magazine, Harwick may have died as a result of a struggle with an intruder in her home. Sadly, that intruder looks to be former boyfriend Gareth Pursehouse, who she had previously put a restraining order against. Pursehouse has been arrested and is currently being held on a $2 million bond.

Fans will recall that Carey, who currently serves as host of The Price Is Right, got engaged to Harwick back in 2018, but ended the engagement months later.

And it was troubled love that Harwick spoke about in her last Instagram post before her death.

“Many people are celebrating love today,” she wrote on Friday (Feb. 14.) “Whether you are in a relationship or not, exposure to this could feel overwhelming if you are in an unhealthy relationship, dissatisfied with your relationship status, unhappy in your relationship, or feeling pressure to be in a relationship. I think that Valentine’s Day is a wonderful time to be mindful and redirect thoughts about love to platonic love. There is so much cultural emphasis on romantic love, but let’s be thankful for the authentic love that we give and receive to friends.”

We send our heartfelt condolences to all those who grieve Harwick’s untimely death.
