Drew Carey is speaking out for the first time regarding the death of his ex-fiancée Amie Harwick.
“Amie and I had a love that people are lucky to have once in a lifetime,” Carey tells People magazine about Harwick, who passed away over the weekend following a fall from the balcony of her Hollywood Hills home.“She was positive force in the world, a tireless and unapologetic champion for women, and passionate about her work as a therapist. I am overcome with grief. I would like to thank you in advance for giving myself and everyone who loved Amie privacy while we try to work through this tragic situation.”

Indeed, the tragic nature of the famed Hollywood therapist’s death continues to come to light, as police say her death may have come as she was being assaulted by an ex-boyfriend.
“She suffered significant injuries consistent with a fall,” Los Angeles police said in a press release shared with People magazine about the death of Harwick, who was engaged for a brief time to Carey back in 2018. “A canvass of the area located further evidence of an intruder entering the property and leaving after the murder.”
Harwick’s former boyfriend, 41-year-old Gareth Pursehouse, is now charged with murder and is being held on a $2-million-dollar bail.
Production for The Price is Right, the long-running game show that Carey has hosted since 2007, has been halted as the comedian continues to mourn the sudden loss of Harwick.
