Phil Robertson has been devoted to wife Kay for over fifty years. But before the lady known as Miss Kay captured the heart of the Duck Dynasty patriarch, he may have been in love with someone else.

Or, at least it seems that way.

On a recent episode of the family’s Unashamed podcast, Robertson joined with his children Al, Jase, Jep and Willie to reveal that he recently discovered that he has an adult daughter that he never knew he had. It all started when Al received a letter from a 45-year-old woman by the name of Phyllis who was claiming to be his sister.

“So basically, it was from a woman who said that by a DNA search, she thinks that dad might be her dad,” Al explained during the podcast. “Well once we get into that and start looking at it a little more deeply, I’m like, ‘Oh woah, woah… there might be something to this.”

The boys started to look at the time line between old Phil and new Phil and things began to make sense.

“The more I read it the more I thought this is something we need to figure out,” Al continued. “We were trying to figure things out. I started thinking about it, there’s a 45-year-old woman out there who doesn’t know who her dad is, and she’s looking. And I thought, even if it’s not dad, she needs to know it’s not dad.”

But in fact, Robertson was her dad according to a DNA test that proved that the two were a 99.9 percent match.

“It’s a pretty cool explanation of redemption, reconciliation, love,” the Robertson patriarch said. “As it turns out, Forty five years, you have a daughter that you don’t know about, and she has a father she doesn’t know about. Forty five years that doesn’t sound like very long but you say, that’s a while. So finally, after all those years, we come together.”
