This was never the way actor Stan Kirsch’s storyline was meant to end.
“We tragically lost our beloved Stan Kirsch on January 11,” his wife, Kristyn Green, told NBC’s TODAY show in a statement.
Reports say that the cause of death was, in fact, suicide.
Fans will recall Kirsch’s work in the 1990s television series Highlander, in which he played the role of Richie Ryan. Kirsch also made waves in his role as Monica’s (played by Courteney Cox) boyfriend Ethan on the hit television show Friends. In later years, Kirsch and his wife Kristyn founded their own acting school appropriately named Stan Kirsch Studios.
“We tragically lost our beloved Stan Kirsch on January 11th,” a post read on Kirsch’s Facebook page. “We will be closed for the next 2 weeks as we process and grieve. He was so loved and we are all just devastated. Thank you for your understanding and respecting our privacy during this incredibly difficult time.”
On Wednesday (Jan. 14,) another Facebook post expressed the family’s wishes regarding a memorial service for the much loved actor.
“The family has decided to do a small private ceremony/memorial,” the post read. “Kristyn will be planning a larger gathering at a later date, for all of you who loved Stan. The family ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention. Again, thank you for the outpouring of love and support.”
Please join us in sending our condolences to all those who mourn Kirsch’s death.
