“This is Us” Writer Jas Waters’ Cause of Death is Revealed, and It Will Break Your Heart

Her words made us laugh and some of her words made us cry, but one thing is for certain. The story of This is Us writer Jas Waters was never meant to end this way.

According to Entertainment Tonight, it has been revealed by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner that Water died of suicide by hanging.

She was just 39 years old at the time of her death.

“This news took my breath away,” This is Us creator Dan Fogelman tweeted out shortly after news of Waters death began to circulate. “Jas was absolutely brilliant and had so many stories still to tell.  She made an indelible mark on our show and my heart breaks for her loved ones. RIP @JasFly.”

Not only did she write on 18 episodes of the much-loved NBC drama, but she also contributed her talents to Jim Carrey’s Kidding, Hood Adjacent with James Davis, as well as the film What Men Want.

“We were graced with @JasFly on the show as a fantastic writer but to know her and her beautiful spirit was to love her,” This Is Us star Chrissy Metz added. “I am praying for your beautiful transition, Jas.
