Julianne Hough and Brooks Laich have long looked like they have had the ideal marriage. But according to recent reports, the fairytale just might be breaking apart. According to People, sources say that the couple have definitely hit a rough spot in their two-year marriage.

“They’ve been having problems for months,” a source tells the magazine. “She’s very independent and a free spirit, and that’s been tough for Brooks and their marriage.”
“It seems they are not giving up, but also not talking about it,” another source added. “They want to do this their way. They don’t want to discuss their marriage. They have been having problems, but many people do.”
Granted, there have been signs as of late that the couple are at a crossroads when it comes to their personal lives. For example, Hough appeared on a New Year’s Eve special with Carson Daly not wearing her wedding ring. This was confirmed Wednesday (Jan. 8) when Hough herself shared a NYE pic on Instagram with not a ring in sight.

Laich also headed to his Instagram to air his thoughts about 2020, and some of his thoughts seemed to hint that things aren’t as rosy as one might think.
“I feel like a lot of my life has been ‘bound’ to certain identities that have come through the sport I spent my life playing,” he wrote. “Canadian, male, hockey player, disciplined, competitive, etc… and though I am all of those things, they do not define me, and I am not bound by them.”

He went on to say, “In 2020 I look forward to releasing old identities, and stepping into a new chapter in my life. I find myself wanting to officially say the words “I retire” from professional hockey, instead of vehemently resisting it as I have been for the last 2 years. I feel a new stage of life calling me, and though I don’t exactly know what it is yet, it feels right, and exciting!”
“So in 2020, I am “boundless” and on a new journey.”
Here’s hoping that this couple can find happiness, either together or apart.
