It was Monday (Nov. 4,) and Lindsay Arnold was scheduled to be on the dance floor of Dancing with the Stars. But instead, she was mourning.

“I am so saddened to say that my beautiful, loving, selfless mother in law has unexpectedly passed away,” the Dancing with the Stars pro wrote on her Instagram page on Monday (Nov. 4) alongside a picture of her extended family. “Family is the most important thing to me and being with my husband and our family at this time is exactly where I need to be.”

Dancing with the Stars hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews informed viewers of Arnold’s absence at the beginning of the show and also introduced a package that showed that Arnold’s partner Sean Spicer would instead be dancing with Arnold’s dear friend and fellow Dancing with the Stars pro Jenna Johnson.

“I want to thank everyone from my Dancing with the Stars family for being so supportive and making it possible for me to be at home with my loved ones during this time,” she also wrote in her Instagram post. “I will not be performing tonight on the show and although I wish I could be there I know that home is where I need to be. Thank you all for your love and support. Families are forever and I know that without a doubt.”

Thanks to the fan vote, Spicer and Johnson will continue to compete next week. Yet, it is unknown if Arnold will return by next week or not.

Our thoughts are with Lindsay and her family at this time.
